Proper Care Techniques

No Vacumming

Today’s vaccums have powerful section which dislodges the natural nap of rugs and can damage your investment. Vaccuming of Oriental rugs is NOT recommended; instead, for best results, use a hand sweeper and sweep with direction of the nap. Never vaccum the fringe of your rug.

Removing Stains

Spills of virtually any nature may be removed without permanent stain if taken care of right away. If necessary, dilute the spill with a moderate amount of water, then blot the wet area until all of the moisture is removed. Brush or scrape any excess immediately to prevent penetration and chemical reaction with fibers and colors. For colored spills, turn the rug over and pour water from the backside of the rug, flushing the spill out the front.

Washing

We offer professional cleaning and restoration that brings out the richness and softness of the wool in you Oriental rug – at recommended intervals of two to four years. At Mohsenin Galleries, we only clean Oriental rugs and area rugs, not carpeting; we are the experts in this field.

Sweeping/Blotting Spills

It is always best to attack spills immediately. The best way to prevent a spill from turning into a stain is by blotting up as much moisture as possible with clean towels. Begin at the outer edge of the stain and blot toward the center. Do NOT rub the Spill.

Crushed Pile

To restore piles that have been indented or crushed by the legs of heavy furniture, first moisten the indented area, and then brush it against the nap. Follow this by brushing the indented area with the nap using a soft brush.

Rotation

To ensure even wear, your rug should be rotated every 2-3 years. Depending on the traffic, rotaion interval may vary from 1 year to 3 years.
